Information Tracked

Shift4 may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site. We may also track browser types to help us understand our visitors' needs related to our Web site design. Some sections of our Web site require input of your name, phone number, company, and e-mail address. These forms provide the ability to receive future e-mails of any sort from Shift4. If you opt-in to receiving e-mail communications from us, information about Shift4 products or services may be sent. This information will not be used for any other purpose. Cookies

We use cookies on the Shift4 Web site. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. We do not link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.

We use session ID cookies to let us know when you've visited our Web site and to make it easier for you to navigate. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser.

Third party cookies are used to verify the login status of customers using products or services linked directly with our Web site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our Web site. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site; however, the user may not be able to access all areas of our site.

Web Beacons

We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs) that help us better manage content on the Shift4 Web site by indicating what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers' personally identifiable information.

In order to determine a user's ability to receive HTML e-mail and whether or not an e-mail has been opened, Shift4 includes a "Web beacon" in a majority of the HTML e-mail messages we send. A Web beacon (actually a small .gif image) is activated when an HTML e-mail is opened via a request for the image on our servers. This capability enables Shift4 to send messages in a format users can read and track the aggregate number of e-mails opened. The Web beacon does not collect any personally identifiable information. Users that do not want to receive e-mail messages with Web beacons can choose to receive their e-mails in text (non-HTML) format. We also track when a URL has been clicked inside of an e-mail message sent by our system. We use this functionality to track which links were clicked and in what quantity, as well as the aggregate number of links clicked. This click-tracking functionality does not collect any personally identifiable information.

Links to Other Web Sites

Shift4 is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any other Web sites to which we link. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

This privacy statement applies only to information collected by Shift4's Web site.

Such instances include, but are not limited to: to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights; to protect your safety or the safety of others; to investigate fraud; to respond to a state-, local-, or federal-issued request. Any significant change in Shift4's status, including, but not limited to: mergers; acquisitions; changes in ownership; changes in user information or use thereof; sale of all or a portion of Shift4 assets. We will send notification to you of such events via e-mail and/or notice on the Shift4 Web site or other appropriate channel.

Notification of Changes

Shift4 will notify our clients and users if we make any changes to our privacy policy. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users via e-mail. Users may then decide whether or not we use their information in this different manner. Any changes to our privacy policy and/or Shift4 information collection practices, disclosure practices, use practices, etc. will be posted on our Web site or other appropriate channel. We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently.
